July 30 - August 12
This is a 14-day seminar with a
series of lectures by Rick Strassman, psychiatrist,
Graham Hancock, writer, Shanta Hancock, photographer,
and Luis Eduardo Luna, anthropologist, as
well as five evening rituals.
'DMT, Shamanic Consciousness and the Supernatural' with Rick
Strassman, psychiatrist, Graham Hancock, writer, and Shanta Hancock, photographer.
Three
lectures by
Graham Hancock
• Recovering
the Fingerprints
of a Lost Civilisation. Graham's
bestselling
books Fingerprints
of the Gods
(1995) and
Underworld
(2002) make
the case for
a lost civilization
destroyed in
a global cataclysm
at the end
of the last
Ice Age around
12,500 years
ago. This lecture
presents the
key evidence
supporting
his views and
asks whether
we today are
in danger of
becoming 'the
next lost civilisation'.
• As Above, so Below – The
Ancient System
of Sky-Ground
Magic in Architecture,
Myth and Measurement. The Pyramids of Giza, in Egypt, are laid out on the ground
in the pattern of the three stars of the belt of Orion while the temples of Angkor
in Cambodia mirror the constellation of Draco. Why should this be so and what
is the secret connection between these and other sacred sites around the world?
• Shamanistic consciousness: The supernatural and human
evolution. Why
do the supernatural beings that shamans call 'spirits' have so much
in common with the supernatural beings that medieval Europeans called 'elves',
and why are both so similar in astonishing ways to the beings that many in the
modern world believe are 'aliens'? What role have such beings played
in the story of human evolution and is it possible that altered states of consciousness
brought on by the consumption of visionary plants were responsible for the greatest
leap forward in the whole story of human evolution? Graham brings together
evidence from the most recent research in fields as diverse as cave art, anthropology,
neuropsychology,consciousness-studies and DNA to offer some controversial and
thought-provoking ideas about the mysteries of the human condition.
Three lectures by Rick Strassman
• From Fireworks to Biblical
Prophecy - A Long and Winding Trip through Other
Realities. An
autobiographical tale, ranging from my childhood
involvement with fireworks; through medicine,
psychiatry, Zen, and psychedelic research; to
the present day. I will emphasize important
mentors and colleagues I have had along the way.
• DMT - The Spirit Molecule. A review of DMT, what it is, where it's found,
and what it does. I will review the rationale behind our DMT studies in
New Mexico, describe our results, and discuss their implications.
• Prophecy - What it is, How it Works, and Why it is
our Natural Birthright. A
work in progress. Eight years of study of Jewish scripture and commentaries
has led me to believe that prophecy, taken out of political and priestly proprietorship,
is a natural model for understanding the nature of the psychedelic experience
in the West. It also provides a springboard to understand the role of endogenous
DMT in the evolution of human consciousness, using the language and models of
Western spirituality.

Rick Strassman
In the 1990's, Dr. Strassman began the
first new human research with
hallucinogens in the US in over 20 years,
this being with DMT, the visionary
ingredient of ayahuasca. Previously,
he had investigated and published
regarding the human physiology of the
pineal gland.
Dr. Strassman underwent
lay ordination in a Western Buddhist
sect, and organized and administered
an affiliate meditation group in Sacramento
for many years. Now having returned
to his Jewish roots, he is using the
lens of the Hebrew bible's description
of
prophecy to explicate the role of endogenous
DMT in the evolution of
consciousness.
He is the author of DMT - The Spirit
Molecule, and the forthcoming Inner
Paths to Outer Space co-authored with
Luis Eduardo Luna, Ede Frecksa, and
Slawek Wojtowicz.
