2. June 9 - 22.

This is a 14-day seminar with a combination of lectures by Dennis McKenna, Karen Helle Grue and Luis Eduardo Luna with two Holotropic Breathwork sessions and four evening rituals.

'Psychointegrators, Holotropic Breathwork, Spirituality and the Mind'
with Dennis McKenna, ethnopharmacologist, Karen Helle Grue, Jungian psychologist, and Holotropic Breathwork facilitator and Luis Eduardo Luna.

Four lectures by Dennis McKenna
• Healing Journey: Psychedelics in Medicine.
For the first time in nearly 40 years, psychedelics are being evaluated again in clinical studies for their potential to treat everything from post-traumatic stress syndrome to cluster headaches. This talk will review the status of current on-going investigations of the use of psychedelics in medicine.

• Plant Human Coevolution.
Much as insects and plants have co-evolved together in an evolutionary dance that is elegantly regulated by plant chemistry, so the evolution of the planet's chief omnivores -- humans -- has been profoundly impacted by our relationship to plants. The chemically-mediated symbiosis between plants and humans has dramatically influenced the evolution of both, and this talk will explore some of its outcomes and consequences, such as the origin of agriculture and the emergence of consciousness and language.

• The Neuroscience of Spirituality.

New technologies in neuroscience -- particularly 'brain imaging' techniques -- combined with ancient 'technologies of the sacred' such as shamanism and psychedelics, have provided tools to elucidate what we know about the relationship between the brain, the mind, and mystical or transcendent experience.

• Mushroom and the Mind
.
This talk will be a foray into the chemistry, pharmacology, cultural history, and ethnomycology of psychoactive fungi.

Lecture by Karen Helle Grue
• How the Psyche Creates a Deeper Understanding of Itself Through the Language of Symbols. The Consequence of Rejection of Masculinity Seen Through Dreams Case stories and the H.C. Andersen Fairytale "The Travel Companion.

Holotropic Breathwork
A method developed by Stan and Christiana Grof. The basic elements in Holotropic Breathwork are deeper and accelerated breathing, evocative music, and facilitation of energy release through a specific form of bodywork. With the eyes closed and lying on a mat, each person uses their own breath and the music in the room to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness. This state activates the natural inner healing process of the individual's psyche, bringing him or her a particular set of internal experiences. With the inner healing intelligence guiding the process, the quality and content brought forth is unique to each person and for that particular time and place. While recurring themes are common, no two sessions are ever-alike.
